Natural Selection will open Sable Alley in the heart of the 440 000-acre Khwai Private Reserve in Botswana in May this year.
Khwai Private Reserve borders both Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park. The camp is a community-based joint venture partnership that adjoins onto the Okavango Delta ecosystem.
The camp overlooks a lagoon and features a wide deck, swimming pool and bar, and all guest tents have uninterrupted views of the resident pod of hippo and large herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo that come to drink. It features 12 tents (with two interconnected family tents) on raised decks. Tents are spacious at 65sqm and feature king size or twin beds and bathrooms with double vanities, indoor and outdoor showers.
Game viewing will be from open 4×4 safari vehicles and day and night drives, as well as on mokoro safaris. Boating, sundowner cruise safaris and up-close game viewing from the viewing hide will also keep guests busy.
Sable Alley is solar powered and grey water is properly treated above ground, while all rubbish is separated, recycled and trucked back for processing and disposal. Most of the staff are from the local community.
Rates start from US$570pppn, inclusive of accommodation, all meals, daily activities and drinks. Peak season rates are from US$760pppn. Private vehicles and private guides are available on request.
